Ahhh, green...

I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoy walking out into my garden and seeing each little plant growing bigger every day. I relish it so. It seriously makes me euphoric. See the peas? They are getting so tall and are actually curling their little tentacles around the string that marks the beds.
This weekend was a big weekend here in southeastern Nebraska. It marked the official last frost date and created the opportunity to get lots more into the ground. Corn, cucumbers, summer squash, celery, more carrots, more radishes, more beets, and some marigolds and sunflowers. And, my tomatoes began spending some time outside to harden them off before they go in the ground next weekend. By the end of the month, most of the garden will be in place.

The garden is work. That is for sure. But, even though I often ache when I'm finished and my nails seem to have permanent dirt under them, and even though I know that every plant I put in the ground means even more work in the future, I love it. I wish I was better at it, but that will come with time. In the meantime, I just keep enjoying it...a little bit every day. And I get to marvel at my potatoes, which are now taller than the sides of the beds and looking so full and strong.
Really. If only all my work could be this enjoyable. But, I guess that just goes to show you that enjoying work isn't about how easy it is, but about how much you choose to enjoy it.

Gorgeous looking plants - so healthy and no snails. Our peas are starting to clamber up their netting too.
